Sydney lives in the Seattle area with her family. She grew up in the church where her faith was established in middle school and early high school. About this time Sydney felt called to pursue the arts, and she enrolled at the Kansas City Art Institute.
Over the years she has worked for several companies in digital marketing using different social media platforms. Her previous job experience have given her the opportunity to be a team player, working well with others and paying attention to detail, while genuinely listening to and acting upon her clients requests.
Currently, Syd lives in Tacoma with her husband, Eli, who is a worship pastor at a church in the area. They are expecting their first child and are excited for what God has in store for them professionally and personally this year.
Why do Graphic Design for a Church?
Sydney believes art is a powerful tool that God uses to draw us closer to Him.
I love serving the church through the arts to help reach believers and nonbelievers alike, helping them better understand their worth in Jesus. While attending art school, I met several people who would not consider themselves believers, however, they understood that there is a powerful force behind creativity and beauty. I believe God can use art as a stepping stone to draw us closer to Him. I want to share my talents to better serve Him and the local church.

Process Example
Easter Idea
I was given this image as the core inspiration behind the Easter service for my husband’s church. I was instructed to use the brand manual and to be inspired by the words fun, whimsical and non traditional. I then came up with a couple design ideas (see below):
This was the final design
After landing on this design, I sent over the correct file sizing for both print material as well as the digital display (screen for stage). This entire process from start to finish took three days. All communication and creating was done remotely.
