Hello all! I will #BravetheShave on September 11th, 2015. What is Brave the Shave you ask? It is an event hosted by St. Baldricks to raise money and awareness for Children Cancer Research. Children research is far different from adult cancer research not to mention expensive. In super simple terms that I can understand: adult research is focused around targeting growing cells (cancer) while kids are made up of all sorts of healthy growing cells. Using the same treatment for adults on kids will not only be harmful but will stop their normal growth.
I will be a "shavee" which means I will get my head shaved on the 11th. I'll clip my hair I will shave my entire head to help support children cancer research. It's important. 8/18/2015
I CAN HONESTLY SAY SHAVING MY HEAD WAS THE MOST EXHILARATING THING I HAVE EVER DONE. I STOOD UP THERE WITH MY SHOULDER LENGTH HAIR As THEY ANNOUNCED THAT "SYDNEY CHASE NEEDED $500 EXTRA DOLLARS TO REACH HER GOAL! WHO IS GOING TO HELP HER?" A MAN RAISED HIS HAND AND DONATED THE FULL AMOUNT. MY HAIR FELL TO THE GROUND BUT MY SPIRITS SOARED.
I HAVE NEVER FELT SO A PART OF SOMETHING IN MY LIFE AND YOU KNOW WHAT? IT WAS JUST HAIR. IT GREW BACK. MY HAIR IS BELOW MY SHOULDERS NOW AND IT HAS BEEN TWO YEARS SINCE THE PICTURE ABOVE WAS TAKEN. SHAVING MY HEAD AND RAISING A COUPLE DOLLARS IS JUST A DROP IN THE BUCKET COMPARED TO WHAT THOSE KIDDOS AND THEIR FAMILIES HAVE TO GO THROUGH. A LOT OF DROPS HOWEVER CAN MAKE A FLOOD. WILL YOU BE A PART OF THAT FLOOD?
